Women's Tennis Edges Snead State, 5-4

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team picked up its second dual match victory of the fall with a 5-4 win over Snead State on Tuesday evening at the Covenant Tennis Complex.

Covenant moves to 2-0 on the year.

The Lady Scots took an early 3-0 lead in the match by winning all three doubles matches. Aly Hall and Esther Eddy took an 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot over Snead's Katy Beth Bole and Morgan Thompson, while Claire Luger and Gracie Smith were 8-1 winners at No. 2 over Alesha Triplett and Olivia Sharpton. Annie DeLuca and Jennie Spielman completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 3 against Alexis Daniels and Brandy Daniels.

Covenant has yet to drop a doubles match through its first two contests of the year.

Snead rallied in singles play cutting the Covenant lead to 3-2 with wins at both No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots. Smith came up with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Sharpton at No. 4 to give the Lady Scots a 4-2 lead. At the No. 3 flight, Eddy clinched the match for Covenant with a three-set win over Alexis Daniels 6-4, 4-6, 10-7. 


Covenant will compete individually in the ITA Regional tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-24 in Atlanta, Ga. The event is being hosted by Emory University.
