LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Challenging schedules await for the Covenant men's and women's tennis teams in the spring as the programs, under fourth-year head coach John Hirte, recently announced their slates.
The men will open the spring season on Feb. 6 against Division I neighbor Chattanooga. The match will mark the first time in program history the Scots will compete against a DI school in a dual match. Overall, the Scots are scheduled for 18 regular season matches. Covenant heads into the spring with an 0-1 record.
The Lady Scots' spring starts on Feb. 13 with a contest against Birmingham Southern at home. Covenant will 20 regular season matches and head into the spring with a 1-0 record after knocking off Snead State on Sept. 19.
Combined, the teams will have 10 matches at home, with five of those dates against USA South competition. Non-conference home matches include Birmingham Southern (Feb. 13), Agnes Scott (women only on Feb. 26), Millsaps (March 4), Centre (March 19) and Oglethorpe (March 31).
Covenant will wrap up the regular season at home on the weekend of April 8-9 against USA South foes LaGrange (April 8) and Huntingdon (April 9).
The USA South Tournaments are slated for April 15-17, 2016 in Rocky Mount, N.C., and will be hosted by North Carolina Wesleyan. The top six teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the event.
