LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Danielle Morin, a senior from Colorado Springs, Colo., has committed to attend Covenant College and play tennis for the Scots and head coach John Hirte starting in the fall of 2015.
Morin was homeschooled but recently finished up a very successful senior year as a member of the Colorado Springs Christian School team, where she competed at No. 2 singles all four years. As a senior, she finished first in her league, following up a third place region finish in 2014. Morin also had the opportunity to compete overseas at a tournament in Kalmar, Sweden in 2013.
When asked what led her to choose Covenant, Morin highlighted her campus visit during scholarship weekend back in January.
"At Covenant, I found a welcoming, genuine, Christ-centered community dedicated to academics, athletics, and Christ above all," Morin said. "The current students I met while at Covenant inspired me with their absolute love for the school and genuine desire to be there. I am thrilled to play college tennis and improve my game with the Scots, to study biology in an environment that glorifies Christ, and to grow in a community that challenges me."
Morin was also the recipient of the Donaldson Memorial Science Scholarship, awarded to one qualified freshman applicant who intends to pursue a degree in biology, chemistry, or physics.
"I believe Danielle will thrive as a student-athlete at Covenant," Hirte said. "She has shown that she is driven to pursue excellence on the court as well as in her studies. She will be a fantastic addition to our program, and we are very excited to have her joining the team in the fall."
