FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant women's tennis freshman Annie DeLuca and sophomore Claire Luger earned USA South honorable mention and sophomore Gracie Smith was Covenant's representative on the All-Sportsmanship team, announced the conference on Thursday.
This year marks the second straight that Covenant has had two players earn all-conference honors after Gretchen Rowe and Smith did so in 2014.
DeLuca, from Alpharetta, Ga., led the Lady Scots with 12 singles victories with nine of those coming in USA South play. Her 12 wins is tied for second-most all-time in program history for a season. In doubles play, DeLuca went 11-5 with a 7-3 mark in the conference. DeLuca teamed with Lindsay Geving for 10 of those doubles wins.
Luger tallied nine singles wins on the year with a 7-3 mark against the USA South. The sophomore from Tampa, Fla., played all 16 of her matches at the No. 2 spot. Luger has compiled 21 singles victories in her career. She and Rowe formed the No. 1 doubles team and went 10-7, 7-4 in conference matches, as a duo.
Smith is the Lady Scots' representative on the All-Sportsmanship team for the first time. On the court, the sophomore has tallied a 10-6 record in singles play and 12-3 in doubles matches with a 9-1 mark in league play.
