LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Playing in her final home match of her career, senior Gretchen Rowe notched a win in both doubles and singles to lead the Covenant women's tennis team to a 9-0 rout of Piedmont on Tuesday afternoon.

Covenant moves to 10-5 overall and 7-2 in USA South play. Piedmont drops to 4-10 on the year and 3-5 in league play.

Rowe moved into a tie for second place all-time in program history in singles victories at 24 with her 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 over Amanda Blackwell. Rowe is tied with current Lady Scot Gracie Smith along with Jane Shibley, who played from 2009-11. In doubles action, Rowe and Claire Luger teamed up for an 8-2 win over Blackwell and Nicole Parrish. The doubles win ups Rowe's program record to 33.

Annie DeLuca and Lindsay Geving continued their strong play at the No. 2 doubles spot as they combined for an 8-4 victory. Smith and Jennie Spielman finished off a sweep in doubles with an 8-6 win over Christian Wade and Karina Rivera at No. 3.

Luger posted a three-set victory at No. 2 after dropping the first to defeat Parrish 6-7 (5), 6-3, 10-6. DeLuca also took a three-set win at No. 3 7-6, 1-6, 6-1 over Durden Smith. Smith posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Morgan Cowart.

Geving and Spielman each took pro-set victories at Nos. 5 and 6. Geving bested Tatiana Burkett 8-2 and Spielman knocked off Rivera 8-6. The match featured a short rain delay during the singles round and that forced alterations to the final two singles matches after the match had been decided.

Covenant will be on the road to conclude the regular season this weekend. Covenant travels to Danville, Va., to face Averett on Friday at 3 p.m. before facing Mary Baldwin (10 a.m.) and Meredith (2 p.m.) on Saturday in Staunton, Va. The Meredith match is a rescheduled one from earlier in the year.
