LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team lost its second straight as they were defeated 8-1 by USA South power Methodist on Friday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex.

Covenant drops to 7-3 overall and suffers its first conference loss of the year to go to 4-1. Methodist goes to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in league play.

The lone win for Covenant came at No. 3 doubles. Gracie Smith and Jennie Spielman combined to take an 8-3 victory over Stephanie Hunter and Linsey Gabris. The Lady Scots would hang around in most singles matches, but were unable to win a point.

Covenant will be back on the courts on Saturday morning when it hosts North Carolina Wesleyan. Match time is slated for 11 a.m.
