Tennis: Women 4th, Men 7th in USA South Preseason Polls

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South Athletic Conference released the 2015 preseason coaches polls for men's and women's tennis on Wednesday afternoon. The Covenant women were selected to finish fourth, while the men were picked to finish seventh.

Both Covenant teams are under the direction of John Hirte who enters his third year at the helm of both programs.

On the women's side, Methodist was picked to defend its conference championship as the Monarchs tallied eight of the 13 first place votes and 140 points overall. Covenant picked up 111 total points to finish fourth. The Lady Scots are coming off a program-record 16 win season a year ago and an appearance in the semifinal round of the USA South tournament.

N.C. Wesleyan was selected as the preseason favorite on the men's side after receiving eight of the 10 first place tallies. Covenant projects seventh in the 10-team league with 32 total points. The Scots return top player Michael O'Brien from last year and Hirte has brought in a talented freshman class.
