Tennis Teams Finish Regular Season with Losses to Sewanee

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant tennis teams wrapped up their regular seasons on Tuesday afternoon against regional-power Sewanee. The visiting Tigers defeated the women's team 8-1, while the men fell 9-0.

The men finish the season with a 2-17 overall record. The women fall to 15-7 on the season.

On the women's side, Sewanee, ranked 16th in Division III, was too much for the Lady Scots to overcome. Playing at No. 6 singles, Lindsay Geving earned the lone victory of the day with a three set win over Hastings Johnson 6-3, 5-7, 10-8.

The men also had difficulty with the Tigers, ranked ninth in the region. Sewanee would go on to shutout the Scots.

The women's team will open the USA South Tournament as the three-seed and will face Maryville on Friday at 9 a.m. in Rocky Mount, N.C.
