LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team saw its six-match win streak come to a close on Tuesday afternoon with an 8-1 defeat at the hands of regional power Berry.
The Lady Scots fall to 8-4 on the season. Covenant's last two losses have come to the Vikings. Berry remains perfect on the season at 7-0.
The lone win for Covenant on the afternoon came in singles play from Claire Luger at the No. 3 position. Luger defeated Berry's Caitlin Smith in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 10-7. In doubles play, Luger and teammate Gretchen Rowe took a narrow 9-7 defeat at No. 2 to Mery Cerny and Lauren Byrket.
Covenant will be back in action on Friday against USA South foe Methodist in Fayetteville, N.C. Match time is slated for 3:30 p.m. The Lady Scots return home on Wednesday, March 26 against Huntingdon at 3 p.m.
