FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Women's tennis senior Madeline Hyatt has been named USA South Player of the Week, announced the league on Monday afternoon.
The honor marks the second consecutive week that the Lady Scots have earned the award. Claire Luger was selected as both the Player and Rookie of the Week on Feb. 24.
Hyatt, a senior from Marshville, N.C., went 2-1 at No. 1 singles and doubles last week with all four wins coming against USA South foes. She won 6-0, 6-0 against Greensboro's LeeAnna Robertson on Friday and then 6-1, 6-0 vs. Ferrum's No. 1 Rebecca Harbeck on Saturday. In doubles play, Hyatt and teammate Sarah Carter won 8-1 over Greensboro's Robertson and Margaret Dubey followed by an 8-1 victory over Ferrum's Harbeck and Kyra Schultz.
