FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Freshman Claire Luger has been selected as the USA South Player and Rookie of the Week, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.
The weekly honor is the first for the women's tennis program in the USA South.
Luger helped the Lady Scots to two wins over the weekend with a singles victory and two doubles wins. The freshman from Tampa, Fla., had the match-clinching victory at No. 3 singles against Agnes Scott's Anne Rinaldo 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday as Covenant won 6-3.
Luger teamed up with Gretchen Rowe for a pair of doubles wins. Luger and Rowe played at No. 2 doubles and defeated Middle Georgia State's Halee Hayes and Liz Culpepper 8-5 and the knocked off Agnes Scott's Rinaldo and Kendall Latimer 8-3.

The Covenant women return to the court on Wednesday when they travel to face Berry in non-conference action. The women will open up USA South play this weekend with matches against Greensboro (Friday) and Ferrum (Saturday).
