GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Senior Kelsey Whitted has been named NCCAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week, announced the association on Tuesday afternoon.
Whitted is the second Lady Scot to earn this honor this season as fellow senior Anne Marie Rowe was recognized on March 20.
Whitted, from Loganville, Ga., helped Covenant secure a victory in its final match of the season as the Lady Scots took a 5-4 win over GSAC foe Spelman. The senior teamed up with Sarah Carter at No. 1 doubles to defeat Spelman 8-3. In singles play, Whitted dropped the first set but rallied back to win the final two games and score a huge 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 victory. Additionally, Whitted won her two matches with an injured leg that kept her out of the Wesleyan match just one day prior to the Spelman match.
Covenant ended its season with a 4-12 mark in the spring season.
