ATLANTA, Ga. -- Led by strong performances across the board, the Covenant women's tennis team notched its third GSAC victory of the season with a 9-0 defeat of Wesleyan on Tuesday evening.
Covenant moves to 3-12 overall for the spring season and 3-5 in GSAC play. Wesleyan drops to 2-10 overall.
Playing at the No. 1 singles position, Gretchen Rowe took a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Wesleyan's Katie McIntosh. Anne Marie Rowe, Catherine Landers, and Sara Kathryn Cole all also scored shutout victories in their singles matches. Sarah Carter secured a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. The sixth singles position was vacated by Wesleyan, giving Covenant a win by default.
In doubles play, the Rowe sisters teamed up for their fifth win of the season as a duo with an 8-0 victory at the No. 1 position. Landers and Cole picked up their third win of the year with another 8-0 defeat. Once again, Covneant won the third doubles match by default.
The Lady Scots had their home match against Spelman moved from Friday to tomorrow (Wednesday) at 3:30 p.m. The matches will be held on campus at Covenant.
