Women's Tennis Knocks Off Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- For the second time this season, the Covenant women's tennis team defeated GSAC foe Salem. The Lady Scots earned a 9-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon in North Carolina.

Covenant improves to 2-9 for the spring season and 2-3 in conference play. The Lady Scots also defeated Salem 9-0 back on March 16 in Chattanooga.

Playing at No. 1 singles, Gretchen Rowe set down Salem's Andrea Akers 6-2, 6-0 while Anne Marie Rowe defeated Ayla Pruitt 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4. Catherine Landers and Sara Carter each recorded 6-2, 6-2 victories. Kelsey Whitted won 6-1, 6-0 and Sara Kathryn Cole completed the shutout with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.

In doubles matches, Whitted and Carter paired up to defeat Salem's No. 1 duo 8-3. The Rowe sisters came away with an 8-2 victory and Landers and Cole claimed an 8-0 win.

Covenant will be back in action on Saturday when they host Sewanee at 9:30 a.m. and Huntingdon at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at Chattanooga Christian School.
