FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. -- The men's and women's tennis teams both suffered losses at the hands of Emmanuel College on Tuesday afternoon. The men fell 9-0, while the women suffered a narrow 5-4 setback.
The women trailed 2-1 after the doubles matches that saw Sarah Carter and Sara Kathryn Cole knock off Emmanuel's Jaclyn Klerk and Leanna Tucker 8-2. In singles play, Katharine Redberg defeated Olivia Gish 6-4, 6-4. Anne Marie Rowe won 6-1, 6-0 over Klerk, while Catherine Landers also earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Tucker.
The Lady Scots now stand at 0-2 for the spring season.
On the men's side, the Scots continue to improve. Bryce Bartelt won three points but fell 6-1, 6-2 to Cody Morris. Jonathan Turner and Jeffrey Cox each earned points also but ultimately were defeated.
Both Covenant teams will be in action on Saturday when they travel to Montgomery, Ala., to take on Huntingdon. Matches begin at 2 p.m.
