ROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's and women's tennis teams both suffered defeats at the hands of Berry on Wednesday afternoon in Rome. The Covenant men were defeated 9-0 and the women also lost by a 9-0 score.
The women fall to 0-1 for the spring season, while the men are 0-2 in the spring.
In the women's matches, freshman Katharine Redberg won the first set 7-5 before falling in the following two sets to Berry's Heidi Seabaugh. Redberg was the lone Covenant player to win a set on the day.
Gretchen Rowe suffered a 6-2, 6-1 as the Lady Scots' No. 1 player to Jenn Tinnell. Anne Marie Rowe went ahead 4-1 in the first set, but she ultimately was beaten by Caitlin Smith 6-4, 6-2. Sarah Carter also played tough as she lost 6-1, 7-5 to Kaleigh Carpenter.
On the men's side, there was improvement from their first match on Feb. 2 at Georgia Gwinnett. Four different Scots in Roy Anderson, Jeffrey Cox, Tim Ahrenholz, and Jonathan Turner each earned points in their singles matches.
The women play on Saturday at GSAC member Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Both teams will then be in action on Feb. 26 at Emmanuel (Ga.) College.
