Gene Ezell began coaching women’s soccer at Covenant College in 2002 and began coaching in 2003. From 2002 to 2011, he also taught part-time at Covenant College in the Physical Education Department.

Prior to coaching the varsity women’s team at Covenant College, Ezell coached at Girls Preparatory School for 13 years in Chattanooga, Tenn. He has also held coaching positions at Purdue University (graduate assistant), Western Middle School in Kokomo, Ind., and with several youth and club soccer organizations. His coaching experience includes not only soccer, but also basketball, track, baseball, and football.

As an athlete, Ezell played four years of soccer at Asbury College. He played racquetball as a semi-pro and amateur for 20 years, having earned the No. 2 rank in the United States. He participated competitively in team handball while in the US Army. He has also completed many marathons and triathlons, having qualified for the World Ironman Triathlon.

Ezell resides with his wife of 43 years, Cynthi Jo, in Signal Mountain, Tenn., where they attend Signal Mountain Bible Church. His daughter, Megan, lives in Nashville with her husband, Alex Helton, and one year old son, Samuel. Ezell frequently visits Nashville to visit with them.

As an Independent Songwriter, who has written over 100 songs, Ezell is often able to meet with producers and songwriters in the Nashville area to continue using his musical talents to reach others with the Gospel. When Ezell is not coaching, composing music, serving in his church, or spending time with his family, he is working full-time as a Professor of Health Education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
