CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Kailey Burrell put one home from Kendyll Freeman in the 99th minute to push the women's soccer team past N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday from the UTC Sports Complex in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament.
The Lady Scots are now 10-5-2 overall and 9-1-1 in the last 11 matches. The Battling Bishops end their season at 6-11-1.
After a scoreless first half Covenant found themselves down one when Cydney Nichols converted a penalty kick in the 68th minute.
The Lady Scots evened things up in the 86th minute as Addy Cronan played a corner kick that went through keepers hands for her third goal of the season and knotted things at one.
Then in the overtime period, Burrell made the only shot count as the game-winner. Freeman dribbled the ball to the 18, and then slid the ball to Burrell who one-touched it past the keeper and fired it into the empty net for her 10th goal of the season, and her sixth game-winner.
Lucy Sandhoff got the start in goal and went the full match facing five shots, making four saves, and allowing just the lone penalty.
Alicia Jacobs faced six shots with four saves, including a penalty kick in the first half to keep things scoreless.
Covenant outshout the Battling Bishops 11-9 while having a strong, 6-1, advantage in corners.
The Lady Scots advanced to the semifinals of the USA South Tournament and will face Greensboro in Maryville, Tenn., on Friday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m.
