LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Rebekah Gravitt scored in the 64th minute and the Covenant defense made it stand as the Lady Scots defeated LaGrange 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Scotland Yard in USA South action.
It was the second time this season Covenant (10-2, 8-1 USA South) has shutout LaGrange after defeating the Panthers 3-0 on Sept. 24. The Lady Scots have registered seven shutouts on the year, including three straight.
The win also keeps Covenant atop the West Division standings in the USA South with its 8-1 league record.
Gravitt was on the receiving end of a cross inside the 18-yard box from Anna Porch and she placed her shot into the net beyond the outstretched arms of LaGrange keeper Jesse Grogan for the match's lone score. The goal was Gravitt's third of the year, while Porch picked up her sixth assist.
Covenant maintained control throughout the match. The Lady Scots possessed the ball for the majority of the afternoon, but LaGrange limited Covenant to just nine shots. Covenant held a 9-2 edge in total shots and a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Rachel Lemay recorded her fifth shutout of the year as she faced one shot and made one save on the afternoon. Grogan made two saves for LaGrange (1-11-2, 0-8-1 USA South).
