LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's soccer team recorded another shutout and received two goals from Anna Robertson in a 5-0 victory over USA South foe Huntingdon on Friday evening at Scotland Yard.
Covenant (9-2, 7-1 USA South) regains the West Division lead in the USA South with the victory. It was the Lady Scots' second straight shutout and sixth overall on the year.
The Lady Scots were patient on offense throughout the night and got on top in the 12th minute when Robertson put home her first goal of the night. Anna Porch crossed the ball into the middle of the box where Robertson received the pass and knocked in the shot past Huntingdon keeper Leah Leach. The assist for Porch was her fifth of the year.
Robertson tallied another goal in the opening minutes of the second half as Summer Bader played a through ball into the box and Robertson scored from about 12 yards out to give Covenant a 3-0 lead in the 49th minute. Robertson now has three goals on the year after her two-goal effort.
Bader got a goal of her own in the 57th minute. Gravitt and Ashlyn Franks played the ball into the top of the box and Bader sent one in after avoiding a defender to give the Lady Scots a 4-0 edge. Franks then capped the scoring in the 70th minute with her first collegiate goal, assisted by Hannah King, for the final tally at 5-0.
Covenant will host USA South foe LaGrange on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Scotland Yard.
