Agnes Scott Hands Lady Scots First Loss

Decatur, Ga. -- Coming off of an overtime win on Tuesday, the Covenant women's soccer team was handed its first defeat of the season with a 2-0 loss to Agnes Scott on Saturday at Gellerstedt Field in Decatur.

The Lady Scots are now sitting at .500 (1-1 on the season), while the Scotties improve to 3-2. The loss for Covenant also marked the first time in five all-time meetings that Agnes Scott has been victorious.

Both of the Scotties' goals came in the second half, one by Sarah Fisher, barely a minute into the period, and the other by Stephanie Hicks (assisted by Zoey Perchaluk) in the 87th minute. The Lady Scots took 10 shots on goal, but all were saved by Agnes Scott keeper Sydney Holstad.

Covenant keeper Rachel Lemay made seven saves in the match, bringing her total up to nine saves for the season. Holstad made four saves in the first half and made six more in the second period as Covenant tried to find the equalizer.

Anna Porch led all players with seven shots, two on goal, while Allie Vannoy also put two on target and had four shots total. Covenant held an 18-9 advantage in shots.


The Lady Scots will face Sewanee on the road on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Kickoff will be at 7:30 PM EDT.
