ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- Anna Porch, a senior at Mounds View High School (Minn.) has committed to attend Covenant College. By accepting the enrollment offer, Porch has expressed her intent to become a full-time student and play soccer for the Lady Scots and head coach Mark Duble in the fall of 2013.
As a member of the soccer team at Mounds View over the past four seasons, Porch has received several awards. She was Rookie of the Year her freshman year, the Coach's Award recipient as a sophomore, All-Conference Honorable Mention and a member of the Section 5-AA All-Academic team her junior year. In her senior year this past fall, she led her team as a captain. Porch also played club soccer for Twin City Fire for many years.
Porch has thrived as a student also as she is a member of the National Honor Society. At Covenant, she plans to complete her undergraduate degree in Pre-Physical Therapy so that she can pursue her doctorate in Physical Therapy after playing soccer. Her career aspirations are to gain job experience as a physical therapist and then be a part of short term mission trips where she can use her experience and education to help others.
When asked about what excites her about attending Covenant, Porch replied, "I would probably have to say the soccer team. When I came to visit Covenant, I really liked getting to know the girls on the team. I'm looking forward to forming lasting friendships with girls on the team."
Duble believes that "Porch will be a great asset to the offense from the center or outside mid positions. Her strength and quick pace is only going to enhance the talent we currently have in the midfield and allow us to continue to pursue the conference championships we will be striving for in the upcoming season. When she visited this spring from Minnesota, it was evident that she will be a great fit for Covenant and the women's soccer program."
Duble, along with the rest of the Covenant women's soccer coaching staff and team, are pleased to have Anna Porch join the Lady Scots for the 2013 season.
