LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.- Covenant College Director of Athletics Tami Smialek announced the hiring of former Lady Scots midfielder Dana Streufert as assistant women's soccer coach earlier this month, welcoming aboard a familiar face to head coach Mark Duble's 2012-13 coaching staff.
Streufert, who recently graduated from Covenant this past May, spent four seasons with the Lady Scots soccer team and captained the squad last fall. Prior to Covenant, the Chattanooga, Tenn., native played high school ball at Chattanooga Christian School, earning All-State honors in her senior season.
In her four seasons with the Lady Scots Streufert earned a plethora of awards, not the least of which included All-Region, All-Conference, All-Academic, and NCCAA All-American honors. She also served as a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was a Student Athlete Representative on the Athletic Committee. Dana has also previously held positions with the Chattanooga Football Club and Chattanooga Sports Ministries organizations. She earned her NSCAA Coaching Diploma this past June in Grapevine, Texas.
"We're really pleased to have Dana come onboard as an assistant coach," said head coach Mark Duble. "She was a high-quality player and that should help her transition into a solid coach at the collegiate level."
Streufert and the rest of the Lady Scots soccer team will kickoff the 2012-13 season on August 31 against three-time NCAA Division III national champion Messiah College.
