LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's basketball team honored its three seniors before the game and then fought off a tough Agnes Scott team to pick up a 57-44 USA South victory on Saturday inside Barnes PE Center.

Covenant (10-11, 4-7 USA South) honored Aleigha Williams, Rachel Price and Alex Quimby before the game for their hard work and dedication to the program over the last four years.

The Scots were a little sluggish in the first quarter as Agnes Scott shot 45.5 percent and held a 11-9 lead at the end of the period. But Covenant would pick it up in the second quarter. Down 16-10, the Scots went on a 12-2 run, capped by a Williams jumper, to take a 22-18 lead with 2:47 left in the second. Quimby drained a 3-pointer with 22 seconds left to give Covenant a 25-22 lead entering halftime.

Quimby converted a conventional three-point play early in the third to give the Scots a six-point lead and Covenant would extend that to 10 on several occasions later in the period. Covenant took its largest lead of the third at 42-28 after a Bekah Walter steal led to a Jessica Bell fastbreak layup with 2:38 left in the period.

Agnes Scott would slice Covenant's lead to 44-38 early in the fourth quarter, but a Kaley Hallmark 3-pointer followed by a Joanna Smith layup boosted the lead back to double figures. The Scots took their biggest lead of the game at 57-42 after Williams converted a driving layup with under a minute remaining in the game.

Hallmark led Covenant with 17 points to go with three rebounds and three steals. Quimby scored 11 points with a career-high seven rebounds and four steals, while Smith had 10 points and two steals. Price collected a team-best 10 rebounds to go with four points. Covenant shot 32.8 percent (21-of-64) from the field, but committed just 12 turnovers and scored 32 points off 24 Agnes Scott giveaways.

Garis Grant nearly had a triple-double as she led Agnes Scott (2-15, 1-10 USA South) with 23 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks. Jalexis Teemer had 13 points and seven assists. The Scotties connected on 43.2 percent (19-of-44) from the floor.

Covenant will play its final regular season home game on Tuesday against USA South foe Salem. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
