LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's basketball team, under fourth-year head coach Sarah Harris, has announced its schedule for the 2016-17 season. The Scots will play 24 regular season games, including 14 USA South games and 10 non-league contests.

Covenant, which went 10-15 in 2015-16, opens the year at home on Nov. 15 against regional foe Sewanee at 5:30 p.m., inside Barnes Physical Education Center. The team then hits the road to compete in the Centre Classic in Danville, Ky., against host Centre (Nov. 18) and then Mary Baldwin (Nov. 19). The Mary Baldwin contest will not count towards the USA South standings.

After a road game at Berry on Nov. 22, the Scots play three straight at home before breaking for Christmas. Covenant hosts Oglethorpe on Dec. 6 followed by Birmingham Southern, a 2016 NCAA Tournament participant, on Dec. 10 and Rust on Dec. 17.

Around New Year's, the Scots will head to Jackson, Miss., to play against Millsaps (Dec. 30) and Belhaven (Dec. 31). The final non-conference game is Jan. 3 at Sewanee.

USA South play opens with a pair of home games on Jan. 6-7. The Scots play Piedmont on Jan. 6 before hosting league newcomer Salem on Jan. 7. Covenant then embarks on a five-game road trip before hosting five straight from Jan. 27-Feb. 4. That five-game homestand is highlighted with games against Huntingdon (Jan. 27), LaGrange (Jan. 28) and Maryville (Jan. 31)

The USA South Tournament is set to begin on Feb. 17 and run through Feb. 25.

NOTES:

- Covenant plays two NCAA Tournament teams from 2016 in Maryville (Jan. 10 and Jan. 31) and Birmingham Southern (Dec. 10).

- With three new members to the USA South (Agnes Scott, Salem and Wesleyan), Covenant now competes in the West Division of the conference. The West consists of Agnes Scott, Covenant, Huntingdon, LaGrange, Maryville, Piedmont, Salem and Wesleyan.

- Two newer opponents are on the schedule this year in Rust and Belhaven. Covenant last played Rust in 2011 (a 65-49 loss in Holly Springs, Miss.) and has played Belhaven just once, losing 79-68 to the Blazers in 2001.
