LAGRANGE, Ga. -- The Covenant women's basketball team suffered from a cold shooting night as the Scots fell for a fourth straight time in a 62-44 defeat at LaGrange on Friday in USA South action.

Covenant drops to 7-14 overall and 4-9 in the USA South, while LaGrange improves to 15-7 overall and 9-4 in league play.

Joanna Smith led the Scots with 10 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals. Kaley Hallmark added eight points, seven rebounds and two assists while Alex Quimby had six points off the bench. Covenant managed just 24.2 percent (15-of-62) shooting from the floor, but did make 11-of-14 at the free throw line.

Covenant started strong in the first period. Hallmark made 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to give the Scots a 10-7 lead with 4:13 left in the period. A pair of free throws by Jessica Bell gave Covenant its largest lead of the game at 16-11 heading into the second period.

But the Scots could not find the range in the second as LaGrange outscored them 18-4 and took a 29-20 lead into halftime. The host Panthers continued to extend their lead in the final two periods of play to earn a season sweep of the Scots.

Lauren Johnson had 18 points to lead LaGrange, while Kimberli Payno had 12 points and nine rebounds.

Covenant travels to Montgomery, Ala., on Saturday for a showdown with Huntingdon. Tip-oss is set for 5 p.m. eastern time.
