LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's basketball team suffered from a cold shooting afternoon as visiting LaGrange took a 66-47 victory in USA South action at Barnes PE Center.

Covenant (2-7, 0-2 USA South) falls for the third straight time as the Scots connected on just 30.9 percent (17-of-55) from the field. Aleigha Williams led Covenant with 10 points and four assists, while Kaley Hallmark had nine points and Joanna Smith eight points and nine rebounds. Rachel Price added eight rebounds.

The contest was Covenant's first since Dec. 12.

LaGrange (7-2, 1-0 USA South) picked up the win behind 11 points from Lauren Johnson and 10 apiece from Kelsey Mitchell and Kelsey Walthall. Madison Barker collected 10 rebounds to go along with nine points.

Covenant limited the visiting Panthers to only 39.4 percent (28-of-71) shooting from the field, but LaGrange held a 56-31 rebounding edge and converted 23 offensive rebounds into 19 second-chance points.

LaGrange led throughout the contest and took a 36-14 lead into halftime. Covenant shot the ball better in the second half and sliced its deficit to 13 at 54-41 after a pair of Alex Quimby free throws with 6:28 left in the fourth. LaGrange extended its lead on the next two possessions to thwart the Covenant rally.
