NEW ORLEANS -- For a third straight year, both Covenant men's and women's track and field programs were honored by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) for their work in the classroom as both earned All-Academic Team awards.
It is the fourth straight year that the women's program has earned the distinction, while it is the third consecutive honor for the men's team.
Under head coach Katie Stanford, the women produced a team GPA of 3.40 as the team has earned academic honors in each of its first four seasons of existence. The men compiled a 3.18 GPA.
To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. A total of 359 men's and women's Division III programs were honored, with 209 women's teams and 150 on the men's side.
Covenant was the only USA South program to earn honors.
The success in the classroom from both teams helped Covenant to an institution NCAA-era record 3.35 GPA during the spring semester in 2020. Additionally, each team had six selections on the USA South All-Academic team.
