MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- Michael Rawlings and Elysse Carrillo set two program records each to lead the Covenant track and field teams in the outdoor season opener at the Victor Icebreaker Duals, hosted by Berry, at Valhalla Stadium on Saturday.

The meet was scored as a dual, so there was no official team placement for either squad.

Rawlings topped his own program records in the javelin and shot put events. The junior finished fifth overall with a program-best mark of 46.59 meters in the javelin event, while he placed 13th overall with a program record of 10.40 meters in the shot put.

Carrillo continued to set program records, this time in the outdoor season. The freshman placed third overall in the 400 meter event with a program record time of 1:01.09. She then set the program record in the 200 meter event with a time of 27.59.

The men's team had two runners finish in the top 10 of the 1500 meter event as Brendan Yeager placed fifth with a time of 4:10.43 while Jonathan George was ninth at 4:16.45. George had another top 10 finish in the 800 meter run as he came in sixth with a time of 2:01.66.

Ben Tyson set a personal record and finished ninth in the 400 meter with a mark of 52.21. Micaiah Allison was fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 10:26.22.

The women's team saw strong results in the 800 meter run. S.K. Lipperd came in third with a time of 2:23.91 and Nichole Rittgers set a personal record with her time of 2:30.27 to finish 10th in the event. In the 5,000 meter it was Michelann Settle leading the way for the Scots with her time of 19:07.05 and 11th place finish.

Covenant had competitors in the triple jump for the first time in outdoor program history for both men and women. On the men's side, DJ Moore came in sixth with his mark of 12.86 meters. Anna Baker came in at 8.76 meters for the women's team.

Covenant will be back in action at the Birmingham Southern Invitational on March 13-14.
