NEW ORLEANS -- For a second straight year, both Covenant men's and women's track and field programs were honored by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) for their work in the classroom as both earned All-Academic Team awards.
It is the third straight year that the women's program has earned the distinction, while it is the second consecutive honor for the men's team.
Under head coach Katie Stanford, the women produced a team GPA of 3.37, as the team has earned academic honors in each of its first three seasons of existence. The men compiled a 3.27 GPA, which improved on last year's 3.11 mark.
To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. A total of 297 men's and women's Division III programs were honored, with 184 women's teams and 113 on the men's side.
Covenant was one of two USA South programs to earn the academic honors, but was the only conference institution to have both men's and women's programs recognized. Piedmont earned honors on the women's side.
