LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The third season of Covenant track and field is set to begin on Feb. 2 as head coach Katie Stanford recently finalized the 2019 indoor and outdoor schedule for the program.

The biggest event on the calendar for the squads is the USA South Championships, set for April 19-20 in Berea, Ky. It will be the first year the USA South has sponsored outdoor track and field since Covenant began its program, and the first year for the conference since 1987.

For a second straight year, the Scots will compete in two indoor events. Covenant will head to the Tiger Indoor Invitational, hosted by Sewanee, on Feb. 2, marking the third consecutive year in the meet for the Scots. The indoor season will conclude on Feb. 11 at the 'Southern Indoor Challenge, hosted by Birmingham Southern.

The outdoor season features six meets, culminating in the USA South Championships in late April. The outdoor season kicks off on March 2 at the Victor Icebreaker Duals in Mount Berry, Ga. Two weekends later, March 15-16, Covenant will compete in the Rhodes Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., for the first time.

Covenant will be back at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., for a third straight year on March 22-23. The Scots will conclude March with a trip to the Hilltop Classic, at Birmingham Southern, on March 30.

The final regular season meet will be on April 12-13 at the Berry Field Day Invitational in Mount Berry, Ga.

The addition of the USA South sponsorship of the sport means that athletes will be not only able to compete for a conference championship, but also all-conference awards.
