NEW ORLEANS -- The Covenant men's and women's track and field programs were honored recently by the USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) for their work in the classroom as both earned All-Academic Team awards.
It is the second straight year that the women's program has earned the distinction, while it is the first-ever honor for the men's team.
Under head coach Katie Stanford, the women produced a team GPA of 3.56, which was an improvement over last year's squad that had a combined 3.357 average. The men pulled together a 3.11 team GPA.
To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.10. A total of 291 men's and women's Division III programs were honored, with 185 women's teams and 106 on the men's side.
Covenant was one of two USA South programs to earn the academic honors, joining Piedmont (both men and women).
