MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -- The Covenant track and field teams opened up the outdoor portion of their schedules on Saturday with strong showings at the Victor Icebreaker Duals, hosted by Berry College.

The meet was scored as a dual as teams competed against each other within the meet, but those results have not been fully compiled at this time.

Similar to the indoor season, Covenant found its groove in the distance events of the meet. Hannah Samuels set a program record time in the 5000 meter at 19:40.69 and finished 16th overall in the field that featured 45 runners. Michelann Settle was right on Samuels' heels in the race as she placed 17th with a time of 19:42.80. In the 1500, Lilly Smith broke her own program mark with a time of 4:59.79 and placed fifth in the event to score for Covenant, while Margaret Fitch was 10th with her personal record time of 5:09.09.

Smith also had a strong run in the 800 meters. The junior again broke her own program record as she came in 11th with a time of 2:32.67.

The distance and middle distance events also had some strong times for the men's team. George also set a program record time in the 800 as he finished in 2:04.69 and was 10th in the event. William Wallace wasn't far off the pace in the 800 as he was 14th at 2:06.62 and Leif Le Mahieu was 16th at 2:07.43.
