SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Covenant track and field programs began the indoor portion of their schedule on Saturday at the Tiger Indoor Invitational. Several athletes set personal or program indoor records, while the women finished fifth overall and the men were seventh.

The women accumulated 36 points in the meet and the men had 15. Emory took home the women's team title and Mississippi College the men's winner.

On the women's side, the 3000 meter event proved to be the most productive. The Scots had three runners place inside the top five with Lilly Smith setting the pace with her program-best time of 11:11.85 and second place finish, while Hannah Samuels was right behind her in third with a personal best time of 11:13.30. Lindsey Beck also placed in the top five, finishing fifth, with a career-best time of 12:22.26. Alexandra May was sixth at 12:25.69. Anna Danek (2:49.75) and Sydney Fitch (2:54.72) also had strong showings in the 800.

Covenant also picked up points in the distance medley relay as Margaret Fitch, Hannah Hennigh, Smith, and Samuels combined for a program-best time of 13:39.54 and finished second overall.

For the men, it was also the distance and the relays that tallied the most points on the day. In the 3000 meter event, Caleb Aikens finished third with a program-record time of 9:34.39 and registered six points. Matt Seitz was fifth in the same event with a time of 9:45.13 for two points.

In the 4x400 relay, Tristan Dunlavy, William Wallace, Will Richardson, and Micaiah Allison posted a time of 3:52.95 for a fourth place finish. The Scots also collected points in the distance medley relay with Matthew Tueller, Dunlavy, Jonathan George, and Aikens placing fifth.

Wallace just missed a program-best time in the 800 as he placed sixth overall, and tallied one point, with a time of 2:11.72. Tueller set a personal-best, and program, time of 4:50.84 in the mile run and finished seventh overall. George finished eighth in the mile at 4:51.17.
