Several PRs Set in Weather-Shortened Falcon Classic

MONTEVALLO, Ala. -- The Covenant track and field teams continued to see improvement over the weekend at the Falcon Classic, hosted by Division II member Montevallo. The event was cut short due to weather on Saturday, but both teams saw several personal records set.

The men finished 13th in the event, while the women were 19th overall.

On the men's side, Kyle Delk and Mason Gregoire set personal bests in the 100 meter dash. Delk placed third in his heat with a time of 11.50, while Gregoire was second in his section at 11.69. Delk and Gregoire were also part of the 4x100 meter relay team, along with Ari Zorns and Berto Dryden, that set the team's season-best mark at 44.29, good for seventh overall.

In distance events, Micah Sneller placed 23rd overall in the 5000 meter with his time 16:41.27. Matthew Tueller finished 28th at 16:54.88. In the 800 meter run, Wesley Reddecliff and John Owen set personal records finishing in 2:10.74 and 2:10.75, respectively. Tristan Dunlavy set a personal best in the 400 meter with a time of 53.06. In field events, Delk finished third in his section of the long jump with a mark of 6.26 meters.

On the women's side, Caroline Cone set her personal best in the long jump on Friday with a mark of 4.78 meters. Also on Friday, Gracie Holbrook scored for Covenant with her seventh place finish and best time of 13:35.33 in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

Hannah Hennigh set her best time in the 100 meter dash at 13.38 to place 27th overall, and fourth in her section. Michelann Settle placed 15th overall in the 5000 meter run with her personal record time of 20:45.70. In the 800 meters, Margaret Fitch had the top time for Covenant at 2:42.40, but Lindsey Beck (2:46.32) and Holbrook (2:49.33) finished one and two in their heat.


Covenant will be back in competition on April 7-8 at the Berry Field Day Invitational in Rome, Ga.
