LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The long wait is almost over. Just over a year after officially announcing the addition of the program, the Covenant men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the first event in school history on Saturday at the Tiger Indoor Invitational, hosted by Sewanee.

Live results for the meet can be found at the link above.

The event will be Covenant's only indoor meet of the winter as the team prepares for the main portion of its outdoor schedule beginning in March. Head coach Katie Stanford is excited to be able to begin the journey with her program.

"We are looking forward to running in our first meet as an official track and field team," Stanford remarked. "Indoor is a great way to prepare for the outdoor season."

Covenant will travel nearly its entire roster to the meet, which begins and concludes on Saturday. With a mix of distance and middle distance runners along with sprinters, the Scots will see action in many of the events during the meet.

The distance runners will be led by All-USA South cross country runners Micah Sneller, Caleb Keitt and Matthew Tueller on the men's side, while Lilly Smith, Hannah Samuels and Margaret Fitch look for strong performances on the women's side.

Covenant will also feature several sprinters with Ryan Seay, Mason Gregoire and Chapman Whitted highlighting the men's side. Caroline Cone, Hannah Hennigh and Hanna Wilt look to anchor the women in sprint events. Several other newcomers will compete in events throughout the year. "They are all looking strong as we enter the season," Stanford noted.

Stanford is looking for her team to continue to improve and make great strides in the program's first year. "It has been great to train with this team over the winter and there is an excitement and anticipation to start racing," Stanford said. "They all want to compete and leave their marks on the program's history."

After Saturday, Covenant will begin the spring outdoor season on March 4 at Berry's Victor Icebreaker Duals. The Scots will compete in six events during the spring outdoor season from March through April.
