LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant softball team received strong pitching efforts from Carsyn Stone and Sarah Huskey, while the offense totaled 20 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon on Lookout Mountain.

Covenant took game one, 7-1, before completing the sweep with a 3-1 victory in the finale.

The games were originally scheduled to be played in Macon, Ga., but anticipated rain forced the games to be moved to Lookout Mountain.

Stone and Huskey both threw complete-games for Covenant (11-18, 6-6 USA South), while Madyson Gibbins had five hits and three runs scored between the two games.

GAME ONE: Covenant 7, Wesleyan 1

Stone threw a complete-game and allowed just one run, while Covenant scored five runs between the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for a 7-1 victory in Saturday's opener.

Madalyn Ames and Cope Whitaker had three hits apiece as the Scots out-hit the visiting Wolves 11-10. Whitaker added two RBIs, while Ames scored three runs and had three steals. Gibbins had two hits and scored two runs.

Covenant led 2-1 in the fifth before opening the game up with a three-run inning. Faith Manning had a run-scoring single that plated Gibbins before Whitaker and Cassee Wood produced RBI singles to make it 5-1. In the sixth, Shelby Ralston drove in Ames with a single to left field before Whitaker tallied another RBI single to cap the scoring.

That was enough run support for Stone in the circle. Stone (4-10) threw her second complete-game of the year as she went all seven inning and allowed one run, while scattering 10 hits. Stone struck out a season-high six in the victory.

The Scots got on the board first with two runs in the third inning. Erika Mast opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly and a Wesleyan error allowed another run to cross.

MacKenzie Hooker (4-8) got the loss for Wesleyan as she went 5.1 innings allowing four earned runs on nine hits. Brianna Collender went 3-for-4 to lead Wesleyan.

GAME TWO: Covenant 3, Wesleyan 1

Covenant scored single runs in the fifth and sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and Huskey tossed a complete-game as Covenant completed the sweep with a 3-1 win.

Huskey (3-6) was phenomenal in the circle as she went the distance and allowed just one unearned run on four hits. The right-hander walked two and struck out four to collect the win.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the fifth, a two-out rally gave Covenant the lead for good. Ames walked with two outs and Whitaker followed with a double to left-center field that scored Ames all the way from first to give the Scots a 2-1 lead.

The Scots tacked on an insurance run in the sixth when Jada Allmon delivered an RBI single, scoring Ralston, to make it 3-1. Huskey then made quick work of Wesleyan in the seventh as she recorded her third 1-2-3 inning of the game.

Gibbins went 3-for-4 with a run, while Ralston and Allmon both had two hits. Covenant had nine hits in the contest.

Jillian Crosby (2-10) was hit with the loss as she went six inning allowing three runs on nine hits. Collender went 3-for-3 with a run scored, but the Wolves managed just four hits in the loss.
