GAME ONE: Covenant 2, Berea 0

Sarah Huskey tossed a complete-game and the Scots scored two runs in the third inning to come away with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday.

Covenant got on the board with a pair of runs in the third inning. Madyson Gibbins led off with a walk and Carlin Labuzan followed with a single. After Cope Whitaker walked to load the bases, Mast brought home Gibbins with an RBI ground out. Faith Manning made it 2-0 when she singled to center field to score Labuzan.

That was all Huskey needed in the circle. The junior collected her second win of the year and her second complete-game of the season as she went the distance. Huskey (2-2) scattered six hits and two walks to go with five strikeouts.

Manning went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Gibbins, Labuzan, Mast, Jada Allmon, and Shelby Ralston all had one hit apiece.

GAME TWO: Covenant 3, Berea 2

Covenant scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to erase a 2-0 deficit and secure the sweep with a 3-2 victory.

Down by two runs in its final at-bat, Covenant got to work quickly. Aileen Hill singled to start the inning and later scored on a Ralston RBI single to make it 2-1. Cassee Wood followed with a sharp single to left field to put runners at first and second with one away.

Gibbins then reached on an error on her bunt attempt to load the bases. Labuzan worked a walk to even the score at 2-2 and that chased Berea starter Kara Winchester from the game. Howard came on in relief for the Mountaineers and got Whitaker to bounce into a fielder's choice as Berea cut down a runner at the plate. Mast then stepped up and hit a grounder that just got past a diving attempt from the Berea second baseman allowing Gibbins to scamper home with the winning run.

Mast finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Wood was 3-for-3.

Carsyn Stone (2-6) picked up the win for the Scots after going the final four innings in relief and allowing one run on five hits. Lauren Kierpa made her first career start and went three innings with five strikeouts.
