Covenant managed just two hits in the contest as Carlin Labuzan singled in the first inning and Cassee Wood doubled in the fourth inning. Covenant had runners in scoring position in both the first and fourth innings, but were unable to push across a run.
Birmingham Southern was led by Bailey Murphy and Krystyn Fisher as both had two hits and three RBIs. Annie Clayton (1-0) tossed four scoreless innings to collect the win.
Covenant travels to face Judson (Ala.) on Saturday, Feb. 23. Game one is set for 1 p.m. EST.
