Softball Adds Aanensen for 2016-17

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Kirsten Aanensen, a 2016 graduate of Creekview High School in Canton, Ga., has committed to attend Covenant College and play softball for head coach Sara Russell beginning in the fall of 2016.

Aanensen played first and third base not only for her high school team where she was coached by Chance Cain, but also for head coach Deb Sonnenberg of the Georgia Trouble, her travel team. She brings offensive power with a .338 batting average and .500 slugging percentage. Additionally, Aanensen has the willingness to work hard daily and a strong knowledge of the game with her to Covenant.

"I felt welcomed the moment I walked on campus," Aanensen said about her decision. "The coaching staff was the perfect mix of personalities that I believe will help me grow not only as a student athlete, but as a daughter of Christ. I loved the Christian environment where the faculty was solely focused on strengthening your relationship with Christ, while providing a rigorous academic education."

Aanensen is also academically sound and plans to major in Biology with a Pre-Med focus. Aanensen is determined, honest, and is a natural leader, which are all qualities that will help her succeed both athletically and academically.

Russell, along with the team and coaching staff, are pleased to have Kirsten Aanensen join the Lady Scots in 2016.
