FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The USA South announced its All-Conference softball teams on Wednesday morning and a pair of Covenant players were recognized. Jordan Brett was voted to the second team and Kaitlyn Sirmons was the Lady Scots' representative on the All-Sportsmanship team.
It's the second consecutive year that Brett has earned second team honors and the first All-Sportsmanship nod for Sirmons.
Regular season champion Averett garnered most of the top awards as it had the Player of the Year in Taylor Dix, the Pitcher of the Year in Mary Beth Smith and Coach of the Year in Bren Taylor. Piedmont's Jessica Bagwell was named Rookie of the Year and Ferrum's Courtney Rudd was Rookie Pitcher of the Year.
Brett, a sophomore from Swainsboro, Ga., is hitting .438 with four home runs and 33 RBIs, all of which lead the team. The sophomore is slugging .695 and has an on-base percentage of .474. She has tallied 16 multi-hit games, including two games of four hits, and 12 multi-RBI games. Brett became the first player in program history to hit for the cycle when she accomplished the feat on April 11 at Mary Baldwin.
Sirmons is a valuable member of the program as she has played in 26 games, making 20 starts. The sophomore from Havana, Fla., has scored 15 runs with three doubles on the year.
