LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Amber Grimes, a senior at Emanuel County Institute (Twin City, Ga.) has committed to attend Covenant College. By accepting the enrollment offer, Grimes has expressed her intent to be a full-time student and play softball for head coach Sara Russell starting in the fall of 2015.
Under head coach Frank Wimberly, Grimes played for the previous four varsity seasons at ECI as a pitcher and infielder. Grimes has an ERA of 3.12 and holds a batting average of .378.
Outside the diamond, Grimes has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her time in high school.
"I chose Covenant because I loved the Christian atmosphere of the school. I wanted to be at a college that had rigorous course work and a small community feel and Covenant had exactly that," said Grimes as to her decision to attend Covenant.
Grimes added, "Covenant has an awesome softball program and wonderful coaches that care about the program and their players. I loved the welcoming feeling I received from the team and the beliefs that the team as a whole stood by."
Grimes plans to double major in Physical Therapy and Sport Management while at Covenant.
Russell, along with the team and coaching staff, are pleased to have Amber Grimes join the Lady Scots in 2015.
