Covenant Softball Adds Madalyn Ames to 2015-16 Roster

Covenant Softball Adds Madalyn Ames to 2015-16 Roster

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Madalyn Ames, a senior from Pace High School (Fla.), has committed to attend Covenant College. By accepting the enrollment offer, Ames has expressed her intent to be a full-time student and play softball for the Lady Scots and head coach Sara Russell in the fall of 2015.

Ames has started her senior season off strong with a .379 batting average and a .419 on-base percentage. Under coaches Amy Wolfeden and Niki Reed, Ames plays second and third base and the outfield for the Lady Patriots. She's played with the West Florida Elite travel team, under coaches Kelly Hayes and Jessica Cooper.

Ames' academic hard work and dedication rivaled her efforts on the softball diamond. She holds a 4.48 GPA currently.

"God led me to Covenant College through a long process of prayer and seeking his plan, as it says in my favorite Bible verse, Jeremiah 29:11," Ames said on why she chose Covenant. "Covenant's Christ-centered environment made me feel comfortable, as I seek to grow in my faith. The high academic standards also attracted me as I pursue a degree in Biology."

"I chose Covenant softball because I felt that it was the perfect place for me to fulfill my longtime dream of playing softball in college while still receiving a high education. Meeting the team and the coaches made it feel natural for me," continued Ames. "I will bring dedication, hard work, and a positive attitude to the program, as well as a highly competitive spirit, that will not only push myself but my teammates as well."

Ames plans to major in Biology while at Covenant.

Russell, along with the team and her coaching staff, are delighted to have Madalyn Ames join the Lady Scots in 2015.
