LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Kasey Hart, a senior middle infielder from Savannah Christian Preparatory School (Ga.), has committed to attend Covenant College. By accepting the enrollment offer, Hart has expressed her intent to become a full-time student and play softball for the Lady Scots and head coach Sara Russell beginning in the fall of 2014.
Hart played a strong second base and shortstop for the Lady Raiders and head coach Brooke McMillan. In her senior season, Hart put up some impressive offensive numbers with a .365 batting average, a 4.48 on-base percentage and slugged at a .538 clip. Hart had 38 hits with seven doubles, four triples, a home run, 13 RBIs and 39 runs. Those 2013 stats earned her All-Greater Savannah first team, Georgia Dugout Club All-State team, Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-State and Georgia All-State second team selections.
Hart's defensive and offensive versatility carried over to her travel team, Southern Explosion and coach Shannon Shurman.
Off the field, Hart's academic hard work and dedication rivaled her efforts on the softball diamond. She was a Honor Roll student at SCPS and earned a 3.82 GPA.
"I chose Covenant because it is a school that puts Christ first in everything," said Hart on her decision to come to Covenant. "Covenant is a place where I see myself growing spiritually as well as academically. I became familiar with the school through my brother and I couldn't imagine not getting the chance to have my own Covenant experience."
Added Hart, "I chose Covenant softball because I saw the softball team as an opportunity to be a part of a special family at Covenant. I also see the softball program as a way to grow in my faith while surrounded by a team of Christian coaches and players."
"I hope to bring to the program, talent on the field and be a leader who leads by example on and off the field," continued Hart.
She plans to major in Psychology while at Covenant.
Russell, along with the team and her coaching staff, are delighted to have Kasey Hart join the Lady Scots in 2014.
