Hyatt and Redberg, Krafft Win GSAC Weekly Awards

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Great South Athletic Conference announced its player of the week winners on Wednesday and a few Covenant athletes were honored. The women's tennis doubles team of Madi Hyatt and Lauren Redberg were awarded as doubles team of the week, while softball pitcher Chelsea Krafft was Pitcher of the Week.

Hyatt and Redberg defeated Piedmont's Chelsea Prince and Meghan Smith, the Lady Lions' No. 1 doubles team, 8-5. The duo also nearly took out Agnes Scott's Natalie Mayer and Rachel Storz before falling 9-7.

Krafft sparkled in the Lady Scots' doubleheader sweep over Tennessee Temple last week. The right-hander went six innings in the two games combined and allowed just one hit and no runs or walks. For the week, Krafft went 2-1 with an earned run average of 3.00. Coming into yeasterday's games, Krafft was first in the conference in strikeouts with 121 over 117.2 innings of work.
