LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Head Softball Coach Russell is proud to announce the addition of two strong players from DeKalb County (Tenn.) High School to the 2012-2013 roster. Tiffini Hendrixson and Brooke Hutchings have both committed to attending Covenant College next fall and representing the Scots on the softball field.
Hendrixson plays primarily catcher and currently holds a .471 batting average. "Tiffini brings determination, competiveness and dedication to the program. She is a talented player with a selfless attitude," states Russell. Hendrixson said she chose Covenant, "because I love how God is always first. I also chose Covenant because of the friendly people and the beautiful campus. The big reason I chose Covenant Softball is because of the other girls on the team. They are so friendly and they basically have the same personality that I do. Another big reason is because I know Coach Russell understands that I am a student-athlete, student being first."
Tiffini has finished up her senior year with a 3.78 GPA. She plans to major in Pre-nursing while at Covenant.Hutchings plays primarily shortstop, but has also spent some time at third base. She currently holds a .375 batting average. "Brooke brings heart and intensity to the softball program. She is determined to give 110% and brings solid defense to the table," commented Russell. Hutchings shares that she chose Covenant, "for its great Christian atmosphere and its ability to give out the best successful opportunity to students. I love the people and the school and feel like I connect with it greatly." When asked why she chose Covenant Softball she stated, "It has a very good program and the coach is a very spiritual woman who I felt like I connected with more than others. Also the girls seem to be a great group of very determined players."
Brooke has finished up her senior year with a 3.8 GPA. She plans to major in Pre-physical therapy while at Covenant.
