Softball Adds Morgan Lane to Infield for 2013 Season

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Covenant College softball head coach Sara Russell has announced the addition of Morgan Lane to her roster for the 2012-2013 season.  Lane is a first and third basemen from Chattanooga, Tenn. where she plays high school as well as travel ball.  Her contributions to Girls Preparatory School include two Tennessee State Championships (2009 and 2010), along with a state championship game MVP honor in 2010.  She has received All-State accolades for both 2010 and 2011, batting .450 over the last two seasons.

Lane currently attends Girls Preparatory School and has excelled in the classroom with a GPA of 3.30.

Coach Russell commented, "Morgan has been one of my top recruits from the moment I first saw her play.  She has attended multiple camps, showing off her skills and work ethic and bonded with players immediately.  She will help to solidify our defense with a strong arm and fluid fielding mechanics, and she will strengthen our offensive line up with a strong and consistent bat.  I am absolutely thrilled that Morgan has committed to Covenant and our softball program.  She will make a major impact for the team both on the field and in the classroom."

Morgan is the daughter of Gary and Kellie Lane.  She intends to major in Elementary Education: Early Childhood with plans of eventually earning a Masters in Special Education.
