    It has been a long year for a Covenant College Athletics Department that began way back in August and culminated when the baseball and softball seasons recently drew to a close. What began back in 2010 with the women's soccer team's 2-0 victory over Trevecca Nazarene, ended in 2011 with the softball team's trip to the NCCAA World Series and the baseball team’s trip to the Mid-East regional.

    After winning a school record 22 games this season, the Covenant Lady Scots season came to a close Friday afternoon at the hands of Central Baptist College as the Mustangs defeated Covenant 4-0 in a losers’ bracket game at the 2011 NCCAA Softball World Series.

    Piedmont College had their way with the Covenant Lady Scots on Saturday afternoon as the Lady Lions swept a doubleheader by scores of 10-2 and 8-2. Piedmont, which leads the Great South Athletic Conference with a 9-1 record, improve to 20-10 overall this year. Covenant drops to 15-11 on the season.

    Covenant rallied in their final at-bat in game one to win 5-3, but then fell to Maryville College in game two 9-4 in softball action Saturday afternoon. The loss in game two snapped a 9-game win streak for the Lady Scots as their record goes to 14-8 on the season. Maryville, a future foe for Covenant in the Great South Athletic Conference, goes to 9-13 for the year.
