LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's tennis team narrowly fell to visiting Pfeiffer, 5-4, on a warm and breezy Tuesday evening at the Covenant Tennis Complex.

It was the first all-time meeting between the two programs. Covenant falls to 5-3 overall and saw its four-match win streak snapped, while Pfeiffer goes to 5-3. The match does not count towards USA South standings.

The evenly-matched teams battled through the doubles portion of the match. Covenant took a 1-0 lead after the No. 3 duo of Tyler Kelly and Gill Dunn took down Pfeiffer's Trey Speight and Philip Conaway by an 8-2 score.

At the top two doubles flights, both contests went into a tiebreak and the visiting Falcons came away with wins in each. At the top spot, Covenant's Logan Hull and Paxton Haggerty held a 5-2 lead in the tiebreak but Pfeiffer's Raul Ruiz and Dylan Masters rallied for a 9-7 victory to win the match 8-7. At No. 2, Pfeiffer's Alec Taylor and Benedikt Pfeiffer held off the Scots' Ethan Gibson and Chris Morton 8-7(4).

The Falcons then took the top three singles matches to claim the match.

Covenant tallied wins at all three spots in the bottom half of the lineup. Dunn was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Masters at the No. 4 slot, while Morton defeated Speight 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. Cameron Cortman was victorious over Conaway 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 6 flight.

Covenant will have 10 days off before competing against regional foe Oglethorpe on Friday, March 13 at home. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
