Men's Tennis Falls In Exhibition To Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's tennis team fell, 7-0, to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Wednesday evening at the UTC Tennis Courts.

The match was played as an exhibition for the Scots but was a regular season contest for Division I Chattanooga (13-10).

The Mocs swept doubles play to pick up the point. Per Division I rules, doubles play counted as a single point.

Niklas Gerdes and Tomas Rodriguez swept Paxton Haggerty and Trey Wood 6-0 at one doubles. Luke Plaisted and Pablo Llebeili won over Logan Hull and Chris Morton 6-1 at the two spot to take the doulbes point for the Mocs.

Ben Luke and Tyler Kelly continued their match in a battle before eventually falling 6-3 to Paul Lahue and Simon Bustamante.

Chattanooga continued their controlling play taking the singles matches.

Jacob Marshall was able to clinch the match for the hosts at four singles over Morton 6-0, 6-0 and take a 4-0 match lead.

Haggerty showed fight playing Kerim Hyatt to a 6-2, 6-2 loss at the two slot. Kelly continued to battle at six singles dropping set one 6-2, before falling 6-3 in the second set to Bo Nash.

UP NEXT

The Scots return to conference play as they travel to Montgomery, Ala. to take on Huntingdon beginning at 3:30 p.m.
